This story both talks about 360 and Microsofts response specifically, why is it filed under Sony in the news?

Read most community forums and there are tons of people with "flashed" XBox'es already playing the game, and have been for a while.

i love the xbox as much as the next man, but the BIGGEST release of this year. already pirated because of the leaky xbox hardware, makes me think that developers should maybe start focusing a little more on the hardware that isnt hacked.

worried about sale figures. if you get behind and start showing the power of the PS3 like uncharted did. then more people would buy it.

would it be a shame to stop developing for 360. your damm right it would. however it makes more sense.

its a shame the 360 is so easily hacked and microsoft didnt ever really do much to plug the holes in the service. but thats life i guess.

But didn't MS come under fire for cutting off peoples XBL accounts for playing hacked/ pirated games.

IIRC it was only an account bam, not a console ban (which they cant do anyway, once you buy a console, you can do as you wish- use it as a bookcase, microwave it etc.)

TBH though, if your playing, as you said, the BIGGEST release of the year, online, 7 days before release, you might as well phone MS and tell them

A 2 second Google search and I find a site where you can download all/any XBox 360 game, including Modern Warfare 2 :/

and the industry gives pc gamers SUCH a hard time over this. eat it.

I bet they're glad they didn't delay the PC version. They would have just looked stupid.

I don't know how many places are releasing it early but I've received an email from HMV saying mines on it's way.

Despite this being pirated already, this will in no way effect sales of this game on the xbox360 i bet. All games are pretty much readily pirated on Xbox360 but still sell by the bucketload. This game will easily surpass GTA IV

This won't affect sales because those that have flashed 360's would have downloaded a copy anyway whether it was before or after the release. In other words, they never would have bought a retail copy in the first place, and those that pay for retail games still will.

we have been told by 2 customers that game are already sending there stock out and i have a had a customer just come in store with his copy sent by hmv !!! so much for street agreements

general feeling from us is we have had enough of this now and are looking into other products away from the games industry

with priate coping, supermarket price cutting,
suppliers overcharging, and no profit in new stock anyway not to mention machines being chipped and vat about to go up again it really is not worth the bother anymore

i give the games industry less than 12 months before the whole destroys itself !

I say copy that 360 release till your DVD/R's give out!!! They took the dedicated servers away from the PC gamers saying that it helps against piracy. I was going to buy this game but im keeping my eye on the torrents for the PC release. No ue in buying a game for $60 if you cant play online.

That is a ridiculous argument. If their was a method to instantly stop the people playing the copy 360 games from doing so, most of those people would buy a genuine copy instead.

So they are all lost sales.

Stop trying to justify the theft of games.

I think you'll find that due to the lovely postal strike, most online retailers are processing orders early as they are having to make alternative delivery arrangements to drop this huge title on launch day. This does not mean people will get the title early, just that it will be processed ahead of schedule to account for the additional delivery lead time. The emails are auto mails in the most part triggered by payment software. The smarter retailers are telling their customers this in separate mails. I suspect that folk who want to share in the Acti goodness in the future will be keeping the street date.

My heart sings with joy at the news that people are pirating this game. Because of Activisions terrible pricing policy we make almost nothing on this game anyway and as a retailer i'm in this for the money not to help make that evil publisher. Don't worry though Mr activision you can still make a ton of cash on the 24 map packs you will release over the next 2 years for stupid money.

Bottom line......... You ripped everyone off for a product based around an already existing game engine claiming that the euro was responsible which by the way has nothing to do with anything for a game not even made there....... 54.99 retail, you are truly the end of the traditional retail model guys, now ask us why we all loved pre-owned software again!

Regardless of whether you like Activision or Kottick - some of the comments on here about piracy are below the mark.

I am aware and confirmed of people who have already been banned for playing copy's of CoD 6 on there modded consoles.

I agree that there is no justifiable reason for piracy of a game, but lets face it if there wasnt such a lax attitude to it from society there would be a better chance of at least stopping people from openly bragging about pirating it without fear of having measures taken against them. take a look at the achievement websites if you want to see what i mean you could make a list of people with pirate copies by looking at those sites alone.

So after the PC fan boys cried about the game being cut to hell (no lean function, no dedicated servers, 9 v 9 maximum players, console port - fail), and the console fan boys flamed sayingit was all the PC fan boys fault due to the piracy on the platform this happens... I have no doubt CoD:MW2 will be huge, but this has left such a bad taste in everyones mouths I'd be interested to see if there will ever be a CoD:MW3.

It's not like this never happened before but anyway it's not very wise to go out on live playing before it's out and don't worry It will happen on PS3 some day too. I'm still going to play on november 10 I predordered it this last week
