Online retailer guarantees launch day delivery after taking 150 pre-orders a minute during peak times
Play.com anticipates Modern Warfare 2 to be the best selling entertainment product ever, eclipsing sales of GTA IV, Mama Mia and The Dark Knight.
The firm has also revealed that it has taken 150 pre-orders a minute during peak times, and will guarantee launch day delivery as long as consumers order their games before midnight on Sunday November 8th.
The offer follows a deal Play.com has signed with a new delivery firm, designed to counteract planned Royal Mail strike action on Friday November 6th and Monday November 9th.
“Our customers’ appetite for this game is without parallel,” says Play.com COO Stuart Rowe, “It’s unquestionably the biggest release that we’ve ever had the opportunity to sell and this unique event is made more complex with the planned industrial action by the Royal Mail.
"Because of the excitement and anticipation for this title we’re going the extra mile and to avoid any disappointment we are using a dedicated service to get the game to each of our customers on the release date. We have many delivery options open to us and we have worked closely with one of our partners to ensure we can offer this delivery guarantee.

“This year we have won the coveted Which Award for best Online Retailer for the second year in a row. This is a result of a continued effort to always deliver the best possible customer service possible. The strike coinciding as it does with the biggest selling entertainment product release ever has presented us with a challenge which we believe our new delivery plan will overcome."

Awesome
I heart play.com.
I've spent over 5k on their site and I've not had one problem. Sites such as 'cdwow' and 'The Hut' are fine but play.com still rules the roost.
Long live play.com
House.
The old Days...
I remember selling to them very easy team to deal with good luck to them. When you think 150 per min must make little jonny with his indie shop feel very small...
Maybe after this people might in tv and paper land will sit up and start doing better storys...
Shock Horror people buy games and like them LOL They call it 'Fun' LOL
play.com
they used citypost to deliver cod mw2, but citypost hand them to royal mail to deliver them, who thought up that idea there are no options to deliver them other than royal mail unless they pay £5 each for postage, all i can say is its a good job royal mail didnt strike
