Medal of Honor to return

With EA pledging to increase it focus on only its most successful IPs, the long-forgotten Medal of Honor series is set to get plenty of love in 2010, according to the publisher.

EA Games label president Frank Gibeau confirmed the news following EA’s recent financial posting, stating: In the months ahead, you’ll hear more about our plans to revitalize core IP, including the Medal of Honor franchise.”

Medal of Honor rose to prominence following the release of PC title Allied Assault. Whilst successes, such as last-gen console outing Frontline, did follow the series struggled after the majority of its core developers went on to form Infinity Ward and subsequently make the blockbuster Call of Duty series.

Medal of Honor made a next-gen comeback in 2007 with Airborne, but a luke-warm critical and commercial performance seemed to have put a temporary halt to future endeavours.
