Medal Of Honor: Modern Warfare incoming

New iteration in combat series will be set in current day, MCV can reveal

Modern Warfare 2 isn’t the only slice of non-historical conflict that games consumers will enjoy in the next few months:  MCV understands that the next iteration in EA’s Medal Of Honor series will be set in the current day.

A reliable industry source told MCV this week that “it’s a new take on the modern warfare idea – and will really help give the series the kick up the arse it needs”.

An EA spokesperson said that the firm had nothing to add to Monday's confirmation of a new Medal Of Honor game from its Q2 earnings call.

The last Medal Of Honor titles to be release in Europe were MOH: Airborne (PS3, 360, PC) and MOH: Heroes 2 (PSP, Wii)

MCV understands that the new title is expected to be released in February/March 2010 on 360, PS3 and PC – with an announcement due before Christmas.

Its funny how history seems to repeat itself. Not long ago the COD series to a leaf out of Clancy's book(s), emulating what the Rainbow Six series had been doing for over a two decades. And now we see MOH following suite.

Maybe Rainbow should revert back to WW2 and show 'em how its done!

jokes.

after observing 1 minutes' silence, I find myself wondering just how appropriate it is that the games business is so proud of promoting the biggest entertainment launch in history, and that game is based on the very things we strive to avoid in our lives. Death. Weapons.War.

Come on EA . . . .

After all this blabber about pushing new and original IP, laying off a fair amount of staff, and talking about being this new hip and streamlined business that can be ideally placed to meet the new challenges of the industry, EA's first announcement is that they are gonna re-hash an old franchise to make a "me too" product to compete with COD. Very sad.

I think you will find the first MOH game was released in November 1999 and the first COD game was released on 29th Oct 2003.

So it infact COD that is the "me too" game not MOH!!

He was referring to that fact that EA are planning on releasing a 'Modern Warfare' to rival COD, you knew that! MOH used to be great but has since gone down hill, don't expect it to have the same success as COD MW.

So glad EA is taking advantage of all the bullshit IW did with MW2. That game is such crap. They removed and changed things on all versions that did not need to be removed/changed.

I hope EA does a fine job on this game and then maybe IW will care about customers and not just about money.

I dont get it. I mean, Isnt EA pushing another odern warfare title named Bad Company 2 set to rival MW2 (which already graphically does) around the same time that MOH:MW is set to release? I just find it strange that EA would place two diff IP's but with the same gameplay to sell at the same. Don't get me wrong, I loved MOH, and I wanna play BFBC2, but i just find this a little strange.

I think most of you are failing to remember, (if you are actually true gamers), that there was a mod for MOHAA for modern combat, and it was done way before the cod franchise tried their hands in modern combat. I think the mod for MOHAA was called Modern Combat, look it up.

Wow everybody. Nothing and I mean NOTHING will top Battlefield 3. I can feel it in my gut. That game won't be possible on consoles, and will be way better than COD MW2 because of frostbite.

MoH was made by the creators of the COD series, MoHAA/SH still a superior game to COD/UO/2, but start to loose itself when the last expansion came out, ant the PA and later Airborne; showing that EA could kill a good game.

While COD series start to grow over its communities and getting stronger, MOH series get weak by disregarding it communities.

I dont believe that EA can reverse that, and bring us a true MoH.
