Activision confirms key territories on both sides of Atlantic have shattered sales records
Modern Warfare 2 made a total of $310m in sales revenue across North America and the UK in its first day on sale.
According to the latest figures from Activision, the game sold a whopping 4.7m units in the two territories across 24 hours.
The news comes following confirmation that around 1.2m of those copies were sold in the UK - and again reaffirms Activision's claim that the game is 'the biggest entertainment launch in history'.
"The Call of Duty franchise has become a cultural phenomenon showing the power of video games as an entertainment medium," said Mike Griffith, CEO, Activision Publishing.
"The shattering of these entertainment records is a testament to the compelling, cinematic and uniquely engaging experience that the Call of Duty brand delivers. Modern Warfare 2 has taken interactive experience to unprecedented heights setting a new standard for entertainment."

Xbox LIVE vs PSN
For all the "Xbox LIVE Gold is worth it!" "No, it's not!" banter that happens on this site, why has there been absolutley NO mention of the fact that MW2 is completely unplayable online on PS3? Just like GTA and other major games when they launch, PSN simply can't handle it.
