Guitar Hero: Led Zeppelin incoming?

Franchise boss says Activision is 'evaluating' more single-artist releases

The global boss of Activision’s Guitar Hero brand has told MCV that the firm is ‘evaluating’ whether to create more artist-specific releases to go up against MTV’s The Beatles: Rock Band – pointing to Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd as possible candidates.

Speaking in an exclusive interview, Dan Ronsensweig said that the firm was “really excited” about the release of Guitar Hero: Van Halen in February – and took the opportunity to reaffirm Activision’s dominance over its Fab Four-themed rival.

“I don’t know who actually bought The Beatles: Rock Band,” he said. “I just know more people bought Guitar Hero 5.”

Discussing further single artist-themed Guitar Hero releases, he added:

“The question of doing single band release is one we’ll evaluate. There are of course iconic bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd that I love – but we have a successful formula of variety and value. Our preliminary set list for next year is pretty amazing.”

In addition, Rosensweig defended the firm’s relationship with music artists, after Courtney Love and No Doubt threatened legal action over in-game likenesses.

“We have really terrific relationships with artists, labels and fans,” he said.

Guitar Hero: Queen [Make It Happen!]

Surely a large band to take on The Beatles in terms of fandom would be Queen? Yeah sure there's been odd tracks here and there on various music games [and of course Singstar had its own version]. But Queen is one of those rare groups where there are no bad songs... and the DLC catalouge is just as huge as the Beatles in terms of money making schemes. Surprised they've not thought of it before really...

I Think there should be a Guitar Hero: Thin Lizzy. It might not have a ring like all the others but Thin Lizzy was another iconic and trend setting band in the 70's and 80's. I Think it would be an amazing game

They should really come out with a GH: Megadeth. I have GH 2,3,WT and Metallica and Metallica is by far the best. Having Megadeth would mean that beating it on expert would actually be difficult and you could still have songs from other bands like Thin Lizzy, which was featured on Metallica. Honestly, Rock Band beatles is a joke most GH fans could get >95% on expert on their first try with probably every song.

GH: Queen? What about the rock band queen track pack? it has 10 or 11 queen songs. Check it out. Also Being a huge megadeth fan they also have more dlc on rock band. Peace sells is available to downoad. In short I moved away from GH earlier this year. I haven't looked back since. Rock band is far better

What about making the recreation of mytical concerts? on GH: WT we had the pleasure of playing on ozzfest, or at least that was the idea, but what about playing in ozzfest with the real escenery and bands? how about woodstock 69 and 99? about led zeppelin, just pure awesomeness, I hope they do it...

I guess Jimmy doen't need the money plus he thinks kids should learn how to play the real thing. This may be true but it is still fun to play a GAME. Not everyone is an aspiring guitarist. Some of us just wanna have fun playing along with Led Zeppelin's music. Lighten up Jimmy and collect $100 million at the same time!

I love the bands: Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. However, do not ruin the legendary names of them and have people buy a guitar and learn how to play zeppelin.

I think a compilation of all the great bands from 60's and 70s would draw a larger crowd and fit with Activisions vision of compilations. Take some Hendrix, The Who, Led Zep, A little bit of metal like Black Sabbath here in there, Fog Hat, Magic Carpet Ride, etc. it would totally rock!
