X-Factor duo reveal they were paid just £50 for QA role in Ireland

X-Factor twins 'Jedward' have revealed that they tested video games for Microsoft before embarking on their new fame-filled career.

The bequiffed Irish brothers – real names John and Edward Grimes – became controversial figures on the ITV talent show for their dodgy vocal skills, but won mass public support before being voted out on Sunday.

And today the pair revealed to The Sun: "We haven't really had jobs. We do some chores for family but we don't take any money.

"We did work experience at Microsoft testing computer games. It was deadly. They paid us £50."

'Deadly', hey?

Judging by the longevity of fellow former X-Factor contestants' singing careers, they may not want to rule out a shock return to the glamorous world of QA just yet…

£50? Deadly?

£50 is a decent wage for just sitting on your arse testing a game...I should know, I've done it too!

QA usually employ people that know and are skilled at games etc...but dont they also often employ people that are considered to be a bit "moronic" and may find bugs through incompetence etc that your more experienced gamer wont find...I assume they were filling this role!

@ Matt

Thanks for that.

Would do me a favour and ask them if they would like to switch the lights on in my front room on Saturday night?

Was it £50 per day though?

They say they did work experience at MS, and got paid £50. That doesn't say they got £50 per day, it could just as easily mean they got £50 for their entire time there.

Anyway, £50 per day is actually a reasonable wage for the games industry - just ask anyone at section editor level or below at Imagine Publishing. *chuckle*

They did "work experience" - they probably got £50 as a thankyou, as a nice gesture which M$ didn't need to do.
Besides, what's wrong with £50 a day? Or am I in the wrong job?

'Deadly' is a slang word used in Ireland and means 'really good' Just though I'd clarify that as it seemed a strange end to an awful article about as news worthy as the removal of the dirt in my fingernail. Was it taken from Kotaku or the Daily Star. Seem more fitting there. Maybe for you next article you could tell me more about celebrity relationships or BMIs or just post pictures of their cellulite and botox botch jobs.
