Guitar Hero: Natal on the way?

Founder of series talks future projects, DJ Hero, confirms Guitar Hero 6

The team behind Guitar Hero are busy working on a way to create a game for Microsoft’s Project Natal.

The co-founder of RedOctane, Kai Huang, has revealed that the firm is investigating the idea of having a camera track players’ movements – and said the firm is “exploring the possibilities” that Natal offers.

He also confirmed the existence of Guitar Hero 6 – and claimed that DJ Hero can become the biggest new IP of 2009.

When The Seattle Times quizzed Huang about working with Natal, he replied:

“We haven’t made any specific announcements of what we’re doing with new technologies in Guitar Hero 6 and beyond, but one of the areas we’re exploring certainly is camera technology and what you can do — track your movements and maybe have your characters on the screen do certain things you’re doing, or personalise it more so it can look more like you on stage rather than just be an avatar.

“There are a lot of possibilities that technologies like Natal will bring, and we’re definitely exploring those.”

When asked if DJ Hero could outsell MTV/EA’s The Beatles: Rock Band, he said:

“We’re planning for it to be the No. 1 new [intellectual property] of the year. So, yeah, we’re excited about it.”

RedOctane established Guitar Hero in 2005, and was acquired by Activision a year later.

wish ms would confirm price, so many rumours on low prices and amount of games, i cant see it being £50 when they charge £60 for a network adaptor and the harddrives are so overpriced, i would guess around £150 wonder how many wii users they will pinch ? i for one think it looks horrible, not the way hardcore gamers want to game.
is there really that much money in casual games, i think they are hit and miss with the consumer, look how much shovel ware there is on wii and ds, more titles than you shake a stick at !
