Undead Labs’ console MMO will “almost certainly” be subscription-based
Seattle-based startup studio Undead Labs has revealed its new zombie MMO game for consoles will “almost certainly” employ subscription charges.
And according to the studio’s founder Jeff Strain, Sony and Microsoft are keen on the idea.
“There are still hurdles to jump with both Sony and Microsoft. But people will make it much easier to jump the hurdle if people can come to the table and say ‘we’re making a console-only MMO from the ground-up’”, Strain said.

Paying Twice
Why would anyone want to pay a subscription for a game when they are already paying for Xbox Live Gold? At least on PS3 there will only be one sub payment. A pay to play MMO wont work on Xbox 360 in my opinion
Jesus...
Take your head out of Sony's A-Hole. :-)
@Shut up
Go get some sence, what Darren is saying is correct.
Why should I be expected to have to pay a subscription fee on my 360 when I'm already paying a yearly subscription to avail of the service, this wouldn't work on a PC MMO, having to double pay to play a game. So why should we be expected to do so on our consoles.
I do agree that because the fact that PSN is free (atm), the PS3 would be better accepted to have to pay for a game on a subscription basis. It's got nothing to do with who's head is up who's a-hole. Just the set ups on the individual consoles in question!
P.S. the whole charging people that are already paying for a yearly subscription fee sounds like an idea of Bobby Kotick!
simple answer...
subscription based mmos are better... end of. the devs have more money to put back into the game as well as more incentive to improve on it. want evidence? look at some mmos.. free ones might be ok but they don't hold up in comparison to the payed games.
there is already a pay to play mmo on 360.... ffxi... and its working fine last i checked.
