Global games giant says losses are minimal, but confirms that a 'targeted' corporate-only restructure is in process
Take-Two has denied our earlier report that it will layoff a segment of its workforce.
The company says it will not make any significant cuts - branding current rumour and speculation in the trade that it will do so as 'erroneous'.
And while the games giant flat out denies cuts to its development workforce - which includes Rockstar Games, various 2K studios, plus Sid Meier's Firaxis and Ken Levine's Irrational Games - it has confirmed that a restructuring is in process amongst its corporate teams.
A statement from the firm reads: "As part of Take-Two’s stated goal to maximize the efficiency of our business, we initiated a targeted restructuring of our corporate departments only in order to better align our resources with our current goals.
"Some of these changes were associated with the pending sale of our Jack of All Games distribution business.
"To be clear, there were no reductions made at the studio level.”

Don't buy it...
I don't believe for one second that dev jobs are safe. If there is some corporate restructuring going on, then it's a sign there is more pain for T2 to come, I reckon.
Still, with a formiddable in-house development resource, including Sid Meier, BioShock's various studios and Rockstar, they have some kind of long-term future.
Re: Don't buy it..
I don't buy it either - but I guess they have to play it safe with these quotes. Hopefully not too many will be affected.
Targeted?
Targeted cuts? When are cuts not targeted? It would be a piss poor company that rolled a Dungeons & Dragons D20 in the morning on a plus 12 to see if there were going to be any cuts, and then a D6 to see how many...
The corporate bullsh*t never ceases to amaze me...
Actually it just bores me rigid.
At the end of the day, if you're an employee you are more expendable than the company. If you're the company you're more expendable than the Managing Directors mortgage.
