Second PS3 global glitch tipped by Paddy Power

Second PS3 global glitch tipped by Paddy Power

Bookmaker offers odds on the next console to suffer a worldwide shutdown – and PS3 is the favourite

The PS3 crisis is officially over – but if for some reason you think PS3 is in line for a second global meltdown, bookmaker Paddy Power is willing to take your money.

The bookmaker is currently offering odds of 11/8 on PS3 suffering a new worldwide glitch. If you think Xbox 360 is more likely to suffer a similar fate, however, it will offer odds of 7/4. The Wii is an outside bet at 2/1.

“PS3 has recently earned the unfortunate reputation of being the Toyota of the games console industry and is the bookies favourite to be next for a repeat performance of yesterday’s calamity,” a statement reads.

However, despite its prophesy of impending doom, Paddy Power still believes PS3 will outsell Xbox 360 in 2010 – and will offer odds of 1/2 to those willing to take that bet.

“The trouble shooters in Sony must be wondering what can possibly go wrong next with the PS3,” it added. “But that said we reckon it’s a safe bet that it will easily outsell the Xbox again this year.”

What else has happened??? I dont remember the PSN going down before?

I do think its a bit strange that people are making such a big deal about this, its a free service that to my knowledge has never gone wrong before now (btw my fat 80GB worked fine)

yeah and the console isn't bricked, it was poorly for a day and then got better, I've not heard of any repairs needed or replacements being dispatched... the media loves a disaster though and if there isnt one... well why let facts stand in the way of a story?

i'm through with this place.
just to remind you, xbl was down several times, for all systems and much longer than 24hr

These people are really something. 360's break like every other day and quite possibly have the worst failure rate of any computer based system in the last decade. PSN goes down for like a day and a half and people are prophesizing the downfall of Sony. It's amazing how much shit Sony has gotten this generation regarding the PS3. No one cuts them any slack and microsoft get off with a pass even though they have shitty hardware.Hell they even banned xbox accounts last year in an attempt to get more people to replace their systems and no one gave them any hell for that either. I swear the bias the media has is just out of hand and its all due to fanboyism. This industry is becoming a joke.

people are as dumb as this post. the system suffers from a one day non system threatening glitch and magically its the end of the world. 360 suffers a 54% constant failure rate, yet people still buy new ones. how dumb do you have to be.

sony has spent serious amounts of time and updates to make this system great and recover from the major bad rap it caught in the first 2 years of the consoles life. this whole ordeal didnt bother me at all, i just didnt play my console on that day and decided to wait until there was a fix. no big deal.

i like my 360, but if this one fails i wont likely be buying a new one. this will be #4 to fail, all have covered under warranty thankfully. but im not shelling out more cash for a busted system

If Sony = Toyota...MS = Kia

Jared.

like my title states, for one abrupt failure sony gets blackballed... but the 360s fail consistently day in and day out just like Kias do, yet no one cares to report their fallacies. Oh well I guess its well known that people respond to negative feedback... the 360 and YLOD go together like sh*t and p*ss. Whats the big deal if the PS3 was down for a day... I'd rather have a downed PS3 for 1 day, than to spend 3 months of 360 game time and two months of waiting on UPS to show up, to deliver the next few 360s to last me til year's end. Ya know...microsoft could learn something from kia... I remember when kia used to have thier buy 1 car, get one free deal. Microsoft.. maybe if you and Kia merged and you both put your half-*ssed efforts together to create one whole-*ssed effort, you could call yourselves successful your respective industries...

"Reputation of being the Toyota of the games console industry"
Actually I think that is quite cleaver. Toyota being a huge car manufacturer with hardly any problems until now.

The PS3 has been working well with all attempts to hack it / bug it failing.. Until now.

Honestly.. The above comments are blowing this waaaaay out of proportion

How are Sony the Toyota of videogames? The PSN suffered a minor problem that was fixed in 24 hours. Yet the 360 has a constant 33% failure rate that hasn't been fixed in over 4 years.

The ignorance amongst RROD - Box 360 fangirls is astounding. Then again, since their last - gen console has no exclusive games i guess they've got nothing better to do with their lives than type up bollocks on the Internet.
