Sony announces new partnership with 20th Century Fox, Warner Bros, Disney, Paramount, Universal and Sony Pictures
Sony Computer Entertainment America has announced that all six major Hollywood studios will be bringing their movies in high definition to PlayStation Network.
Films from 20th Century Fox, Walt Disney Pictures, Paramount Pictures, Sony Pictures Entertainment, Universal Pictures and Warner Bros will soon be available to rent or purchase on PS3 – making PSN the first online console service to offer HD movies from all of the key movie firms.
“Securing high definition content form these studios is another significant milestone further validating PlayStation Network as a complete entertainment network in the home,” said SCEA senior VP of marketing and PSN Peter Dille.
“PSN is the first and only service to deliver high definition home entertainment from all six major studios, directly to consumers for download. It continues to offer the most comprehensive catalogue of HD movies to PSN members that realise the wide-ranging entertainment power on the PS3 system.”
The first films covered under this agreement are now available on PSN, including Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Night At The Museum 2, Disney Pixar’s Up, Star Trek, District 9 and Inglourious Basterds.
