Bizarre sticks up for Activision

Blur developer talks kindly of owner in wake of ongoing Infinity Ward row

Having had to deal with almost relentless criticism in the wake of the ongoing Infinity Ward scandal, publisher Activision will no doubt have been warmed by recent comments from Blur developer and owned studio Bizarre Creations.

Speaking to CVG, Blur’s co-lead designer Gareth Wilson stated: “You hear a lot of horror stories about Activision being this publisher that just churns shit out, but they certainly weren't like that for us.

“Last year we were having to make compromises to hit the release date. We really wanted to expand on the mods, improve the visuals, get the split-screen stuff looking really good, make the power-ups ace – and we just weren't there.

“We went to Activision and said 'we don't think the game's up to our quality level'. It was totally shippable, it was OK. But we would've liked to have had more time. They said 'OK' which was great.

“They were great. Really, really good.”

I cant help but have images of Bizarres staff shackled to their desks and each other, cowering in fear under the evil glair of their "bosses" at Activision.

"Please sirs, we will do or say anything you ask of us, just please dont hurt us!".

"You can start by putting forward a press release telling everyone how good we are to you. UNDERSTAND, WORMS!!!"

Yes, I think thats probably closer to the truth given this sudden revelation from Bizarre in light of everything thats happened in the past week.

Considering Bizarre sold out to Activision, abandoned a great franchise in the shape of PGR to go and make Activisions James Bond racing-shoot-em-up for six year olds.
