PS3 claims 54% of FFXIII sales

The fact that FFXIII has this week claimed the top spot in the ELSPA GfK Chart-Track All Formats Top 40 is of absolutely no shock – but onlookers will be far more interested to see how sales were shared across PS3 and Xbox 360.

And the truth is – in the UK at least – that it was a very close battle. Though MCV is unable to publish specific numbers, we can reveal that Sony’s console claimed 54 per cent of the game’s six-figure sales in its first week of release.

The game has also become the fastest selling of 2010 in the UK.

Seeing as the Final Fantasy series is traditionally so intrinsically tied to the PlayStation brand, the result is perhaps not surprising – and Microsoft will probably be quite pleased at claiming a very respectable share of the week-one unit sales.
