Given that MS had branding on all the ads i'd say it's a poor result for 360.

Based upon attach rate to install base, the PS3 "victory" is more significant. Perhaps somebody else could clarify. On the flip side, as a traditionally Sony franchise, maybe they would have expected more.

so long as the game is selling well and you have stock, it doesnt matter which verson sells more, so long as your not stuck with lots of copies of course, but this franchise sells most of the time anyway

because im sure a microsoft rep is going to have direct links to polyphonic, it just makes sense. better take that as fact folks, gt5 is cancelled.

well this is about our 5th microsoft rep and he is by far the worst, the rest were not bias at all, they understood the business more, and repected nintendo and sony, but still promoted their products, this guy just comes in a talks propoganda, fanboy rubbish, he says he has 5 360s in his house all with paid 12 month subs ! is he trying to increase the install base all on his own? i find him very unprofesssional, he tends to talk about sony more than anything else, didnt like the fact that heavy rain sold more than mass effect 2 for us, i dont understand why he would care, mass effect 2 is game of the year material, heavy rain is good but doesnt have the same commercial success in my view.

considerng 360's sale rate for the game, i think its delivered big style.

we hardly sold a copy on the 360, and customers who we know to have both consoles, opted for the PS3 version.

i would say to only be 4% off of 50% is good work from MS, like i said, i expected sonys result to be a greater amount.

yeah this is true, thing is there is still alot of our cusotmers who didnt make the upgrade to the ps3, they keep talking about it but still havent bought one, as you said we have alot of customers who own all consoles and they all opted for ps3 version, maybe due to 1 disc, or what ever. we still have people holding out to buy a ps3 for GT5.

You MCV people are nothing but a bunch of Xbox 360 apologists. First you claim FFXIII on 360 will sell more then the PS3 one and now you claim that 360 managed 46% of the first week sales. For one who cares all that means is that PS3 with a smaller install base is still the proper home for Final Fantasy. As for the rest of the world FFXIII on PS3 is outselling the 360 version buy a much larger percentage. Though you got what you wanted web traffic, you UK gamers are almost as dumb as the American ones, 360 is a poorly made platform for people who like throwing money away.

you said heavy rain didnt have the same commercial success as mass effect 2. true, as mass effect 2 is a sequel and already had a large base of fans.
heavy rain was something really new and easily could have failed, to make it in the charts i think it would have been a success, but to be no1 for a week if really impressive i feel, as it was a bit of a gamble.
so mass effect 2 done better, but i think heavy rain was the real achiever

i have no issue with heavy rain, ive finished it 3 times, and it sold more than mass effect 2 for us, it was a huge risk and a great story driven game, something fresh rather than another shooter is always good in my view. i just see mass effect 2 being a game of the year and not heavy rain, that doesnt mean the game isnt incredible, just maybe not as accessable to such a wider audience as ME2

Is it really that good seeing as ff was only a ps title in the past you would expect a good 75% really but ms seems to of taken a large almost 1/2 bite out of ps3 sales

i think you have under estimated the year head start xbox had, alot of ps2 users jumped to xbox who never had an xbox before, i mean if i was a single console owner i wouldnt buy another console to get a multi-plat game, just because it used to be a sony franchise.
i think god of war 3 and gt5 are console sellers, alot of people have still not bought a ps3, plus look at ff in japan 1.5 million first few days on the ps3 is a big deal.

along with the 1 year head start sony pretty much nearly priced themselves out of the market with the £425 console price !

It's sad that Sony didn't pay to keep the title to themselfs & even more sad that they didn't advertise it like Microsoft did, so if PS3 still gets more of the sells it just shows that people relize how low the exspectations of the 360 is to compete with high lv PS3 games

I find it hilarious that some 360 fanboys were actually expecting the 3 - disk, heavily - compressed, sub - HD and bad graphics version of the game to sell better than the PS3 version. Looks like their pathetic attempt to pull the wool over everyone's eyes didn't work.

Microsoft "pleased" ? They and many websites were, prior to launch, confidently predicting that this game would sell overwhelmingly on the 360, and it hasn't so far. I think it is grasping at straws to say they would be pleased to have not come close to achieving what they said they would!

ff13 would have sold or will sell more on 360 than on ps3 if piracy hadnt come to play...

why? because modded( dvd fw hack) 360 owners could have been consumers if they hadnt dled ff13 off the internet.

if they got ps3... what do you expect them to buy... the 360 version? or if they got 360... would they buy the ps3 version... consumers who only have one console dont have an option to pick because they have either 360 or ps3. the only problem i see regard this discussion is when these ignorants justified that 360 version is much better than ps3... which is not fckn true... its been said on many fckn forums... that the ps3 version is superior.. no need to argue about it since many have already said and prove. squarenix downplayed the 360 version of ff13.

this one of the few things that these fanboys should accept the facts... another good eg to show disparity of the quality of versions of a game is Bayonetta... ps3 fanboys need to accept that 360 version is much better because its free from bugs... if you compare both versions... ps3 is full of bugs... devs did not put an effort porting the game to ps3, which why bayonetta for ps3 sux.

I'm surprised that 360 version got that many sales. Hope they make more of them multi-platfoorm in the future.
