US: PS3 shortages to cut GoW3 sales

A shortage of PS3 consoles in the US could have a detrimental effect on sales of God of War III, it has been claimed.

The game is already available to buy in the States but customers are unable to buy PS3s to play it, as popular retailers Best Buy, GameStop, Target and Amazon.com are all sold out, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Jack Tretton, president and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America told the publication: It’s not ideal, I won’t kid you. But I firmly believe we’ll get our hardware back in stock and keep selling God of War III for a long time.”

The game is proving to be a challenge at retail for Sony, which released it one week early in India to tackle mass importing.

God of War III will hit UK stores this Friday, March 19th.
