Red Dead hit by stock shortages?

Wild West action adventure Red Dead Redemption has been hit by stock shortages according to reports from a number of retailers.

MCV understands the game – released today – is suffering supply problems across the channel, with the PS3 version being the worst affected.

Reps at Blockbuster, GAME and HMV stores have all told MCV they have run out of PS3 copies and 360 versions are running low – some directly blamed ‘supplier issues’ for the stock drought.

But a spokesperson for GAME said: We think it’s more to do with lots of people buying it rather than limited stock. I’ve been in-store all morning and it’s flying out of the door.”

MCV spoke to a number of store managers who said they received a letter from the suppliers detailing a shortage due to a ‘transit problem’.

Distributor Gem, Take 2 and Rockstar have all declined to comment on the matter.
