FIFA 11 gets street football mode

Publisher EA has confirmed that the Wii iteration of the upcoming FIFA 11 will include a five vs five player street football mode.

Featuring a number of the world’s top global footballing superstars sporting a range of urban streetwear as opposed to their traditional team kits. Players can use the wall to jump past defenders, ‘ignite’ speed bursts or disrupt rivals with shockwaves.

Locations include Brazil, London and France, as well as an indoor sports arena. Modes include First to Score, Tug of War and Timed.

How much the new feature will appeal to the public remains to be seen. EA’s decision to drop its FIFA Street series and the retail struggles of Ubisoft’s Pure Football suggest that the market’s appetite for street football titles is limited at best.
