Dundee-based developer Realtime Worlds has lifted the lid on its next game – and it’s certainly a radical departure from its previous work.
The developer is best known for its 2007 Xbox 360 hit Crackdown and more recently for PC outing APB, though the latter has so far failed to make much of a dent at retail, perhaps thanks to the critical mauling it has had to endure.
But new title MyWorld bears very little resemblance. Though it’s open-world nature is vaguely reminiscent of its earlier titles, the new game is probably best described as a cross between Sim City and ModNation Racers.
It will see players constructing buildings in reproductions of real-world locations, claiming ownership of them in a virtual world and then travelling between them in virtual vehicles. New creations can then be shared with others via a range of social networks including Facebook and Twitter.

As can be seen in the above statement, MyWorld is without a publisher right now but the studio must surely hope that a trailer for a game that seemingly ticks many of the current buzzword boxes – social networks, user generated content, family-friendly gameplay – will succeed in attracting a financial backer.
