Rooney and Kaka front FIFA 11

Football superstars Wayne Rooney and Kaka will headline FIFA 11’s arrival on October 1st.

The Manchester United and Real Madrid stars will grace the cover, and team up with other global players for a TV ad that will begin airing in September.

Kaka is the global face of the game, while Rooney is the UK version’s cover star.

It’s been a big year for FIFA. FIFA 10 sold over 2m units in the UK and World Cup 2010 was No.1 in the charts for three weeks. EA also released two online FIFA PC titles in June – Playfish’s Facebook title FIFA Superstars and the free-to-play FIFA Online.

FIFA 11’s headline gameplay improvement is the reinvention of player authenticity” thanks to what the publisher is calling the Personality+ game system.

The idea is that individual players will offer a better recreation of the real-life play style of each footballer. Skilful dribblers such as Aaron Lennon will touch the ball more frequently, keeping control tight. The likes of John Terry will touch the ball less frequently, but make up for it with greater strength on the ball.

The game has been built on a database of skills compiled by 1,700 scouts posted around the world evaluating players.
