Branson venture backs London Games Conference; Meredith takes key role

Virgin Gaming sponsors LGC

Richard Branson’s new games project has tied up with the UK’s premier games conference and networking dinner.

Virgin Gaming will be a key sponsor of this year’s event, entitled London Games Conference: Survival And Profit In A Changing Industry.

Following on from last year’s enormous success, LGC is focusing on shifts in revenue streams. Special attention will be paid to the impact of digital distribution, multi-player online networks, social networks and cloud-based gaming.

At the same time, it has been confirmed that former MTV Games senior exec Chris Meredith has taken on the role of executive vice president for Virgin Gaming in Europe.

An ambitious online platform that allows gamers to challenge each other and win cash or prizes as well as kudos, Virgin Gaming was unveiled at E3 in June and expects to go live in the UK and Europe before Christmas.

LGC 2010 will take place on Thursday November 4th at BAFTA, 195 Piccadilly and once again comprise of a three hour conference, plus networking dinner and drinks.

Over 200 delegates are expected IGN UK has already been appointed Platinum Sponsor of the event, with InComm and The Hut also on board as partners. Trade body UKIE (formerly ELSPA) has offered its endorsement and inclusion for the event within the wide-ranging London Games Festival this autumn.

Chief analyst Ben Keen will present an exclusive Screen Digest summary of current and future revenue distribution for the games industry.

There will also be big name keynotes, panel sessions and workshops.
