Google launches Chrome app store

Google has launched an app store for its Chrome internet browser.

The Chrome Web Store allows users to download applications and games that can then be played through Google’s web browser.

A number of leading games firms have already published titles for Chrome, including Electronic Arts, Bigpoint and Zynga.

EA’s range includes Tiger Woods, FIFA Superstars and Madden NFL Superstars, as well as PopCap’s Plants vs Zombies. The publisher has also announced it will be bringing Mirror’s Edge 2D to Chrome soon.

Zynga has released a new SKU of FarmVille and Bigpoint has rolled out some of its most popular free-to-play online titles, including DarkOrbit, Seafight and Farmerama.
