Gameloft launches first HD set-top box games

Gameloft has announced it will release the first high definition games for set-top boxes.

The games will be released as part of a partnership with Free, the creators of ambitious set-top box Freebox Revolution. The device comes bundled with a game controller to encourage subscribers to purchase more games.

Titles will include some of Gameloft’s biggest hits, such as Asphalt 5, N.O.V.A, Real Football 2011, Uno and Let’s Gold 2. They will be available to download from Gameloft’s section of the Freebox Revolution’s Freestore.

We are pleased to be partnered with Free who, similar to our approach, understand how to anticipate technological advances to offer interesting products and services that meet the criteria of easy access, high appeal and quality expected by the consumer,” said Gameloft president Michel Guillemot.

The new Freebox is the most powerful triple-play box to date. It allows the development of games in definition, never seen on the market before. We are confident that this new generation of games available on the new Freebox will be quickly adopted by the general public.”
