BioWare ‘aware’ of ME2 save woes on PS3

Developer BioWare has said it is investigating claims of alleged data loss suffered by some users of Mass Effect 2 on PS3.

Some users of the studio’s forums have stated that following the game crashing, upon rebooting the machine their save data has become corrupted. In such a time-intense game some have lost up to 40 hours playtime.

There have even been some reports about the PS3 HDD completely reformatting itself upon the restart.

"Just to make it clear, we are aware of this issue and are working to understand what is occurring and how we can fix it," community manager Chris Priestly stated. "If you are encountering this issue, please provide details about your PS3 and your playthrough."
