PS3 now on parity with Xbox 360 for EA

EA made as much money on PS3 software as it did on Xbox 360 for the first time in the quarter ending December 31st 2010.

Net revenue for PS3 was up 19 per cent year-on-year to $282m. In contrast, Xbox 360 revenues fell 18 per cent to $285m, leaving both with a 27 per cent share of EA’s total market.

In the same period in 2009 Xbox 360 claimed a 28 per cent slice of EA’s revenues and PS3 just 19 per cent.

Wii numbers were also down, tumbling 34 per cent to $130m. PSP was down 27 per cent at $22m and DS down 22 per cent at $49m. The biggest decline was seen on PS2, which saw an annual revenue decrease of 55 per cent to $20m.

Wii accounted for 12 per cent of EA’s numbers followed by DS (five per cent), PSP (two per cent) and PS2 (two per cent).
