UK PS3 sales near 4m

Sony has sold almost four million units in the UK alone.

The platform holder expects to hit this sales milestone within the next few weeks, having seen strong hardware sales throughout the past year.

The PS3 passed the three million sales mark last January, meaning a healthy one million units have been sold in the past month.

Sony is in a strong position to drive hardware sales even further with a line-up of 20 eagerly awaited PS3 titles due to hit before the end of the year.

Throw in continued support for PlayStation Move and potential connectivity with the newly-announced Next Generation Portable, and the company could well be celebrating five million sales this time next year.
