Smurfs’ Village hits 10m downloads

The rebirth of the Smurf continues to gather pace following Capcom’s confirmation that its free-to-play iOS title Smurfs’ Village has now passed the 10m download mark on the Apple App Store.

Fellow Capcom title Zombie Cafe has also hit the same milestone.

In this highly competitive market, the secret behind Smurfs’ Village and Zombie Cafe success lies in its attractive and user-friendly features,” a company statement read.

Mini-games that appeal to a wide variety of fans, integration with Facebook, and dedicated user support as well as additional content based on fan feedback has allowed these games to stand out in a sea of strong competitors.

We here at Capcom are committed to the development of new and creative social games, to take the rapidly expanding mobile market by storm.”

In November the game caught the headlines after jumping ahead of casual behemoth Angry Birds in the both the UK and US top grossing app charts on the Apple App Store.

Last week Capcom had to move to dispel rumours that Apple had raised concerns that users were accidentally spending money on in-game purchases for the game.
