JAPAN: PSP widens 3DS gap

The PSP continues to boss the Japanese hardware market according to the latest numbers from Media Create.

Last week PSP sold 77k units, almost three times as many as 3DS’ 28k unit sales. Last week PSPs sales stood at around two times as many as DS – 49k compared to 23k.

PS3 was the champ in the home console listings, shifting 24k units. This was followed by Wii (11k), DSi XL (9k), DSi (8k), Xbox 360 (4k) and PS2 (1.5k).

Three new PSP titles entered the software Top Ten – Imageepoch’s Final Promise Story, Sony’s Patapon 3 and Honeybee’s Starry Sky in Winter Portable

Next week’s numbers will be of particular interest as they will span Japan’s most notably public holiday of the year, Golden Week.
