PSN ‘at least a few days’ from restoration

PlayStation customers have been told not to expect PSN to return in the coming days.

"I know you all want to know exactly when the services will be restored," SCEE’s head of communications Nick Caplin stated.

"At this time, I can’t give you an exact date, as it will likely be at least a few more days. We’re terribly sorry for the inconvenience and appreciate your patience as we work through this process."

Sony must of course maintain PSN’s security as its number one concern, but it’s also playing a risky game with customers.

At the end of April the company said that "some services" would return within a week, pointing to May 3rd as the likely day. Then on May 6th it announced that it had begun "the final stages of internal testing of the new system, an important step towards restoring PlayStation Network".

Now, come May 10th, it’s decided to play down expectations about a return date. If consumers begin to suspect that PSN won’t make it’s full restoration target of May 31st unrest is almost a certainty.
