2K has signed a new exclusive agreement with wrestling company WWE to keep developing and publishing the WWE video games franchise.
This multi-year partnership grants 2K worldwide rights to publish WWE titles on all major platforms and distribution channels.
2K’sWWE games have been developed by the publisher’sVisual Concepts studio and Yuke’s for the past three years, following THQ’s bankruptcy filing in late 2012. The first release resulting from this partnership was WWE 2K14. WWE went as far as to reduce its royalty payments in order to convince 2K to make that wrestling title.
This extended agreement with WWE will also allow 2K to continue to work on mobile game WWE SuperCard, which launched in August 2014. It has been downloaded over 9m times since then.
