3DS LAUNCH: Spot Pass confirmed for UK

Nintendo has announced that the 3DS Spot Pass system will work in the UK at BT wi-fi spots.

Spot Pass is a wi-fi connection located at the top-right of the Nintendo 3DS that allows users to access data constantly while on the move. This includes video and news. Players can also trade Mii characters with each other via a ‘Street Pass’ facility.

The wi-fi operates even while the console is in use – and Nintendo has already been in talks with wi-fi partners across Europe, including BTFon in the UK, to ensure gamers have access to this wherever they go.

Speaking at the 3DS press announcement in Amsterdam today, Nintendo’s MD of marketing and PR Laurent Fischer said: Spot Pass revolutionises content on the move.

Players will be able to join each other instantly and more easily than before. Our aim is to develop innovative content via Spot Pass.

"We reinvented gaming with DS and Wii, and now 3DS is set to change gaming again."
