54 Wii titles sell over a million

As part of today’s financial results, Nintendo has revealed some impressive sales numbers that demonstrate the true impact of leading IPs such as Wii Fit and Brain Training.

In its last financial year Nintendo sold 26m Wii consoles, bringing its lifetime sales to over 50m. 31m DS consoles were sold in the period, too. On the software front 220m Wii games were sold across the world along with 180m DS titles.

Wii Fit had a sensational year, seeing its lifetime sales reach 18.22m. There was also good news for Mario Kart Wii, which has now sold 15.4m. Sales of Animal Crossing: Let’s Go To The City and Wii music, titles both fingered for by some for failing to meet Nintendo’s expectations, stand at 3.38m and 2.65m respectively.

In total 54 Wii titles have now sold over a million copies worldwide.

On DS the Brain Training series continues to dominate with global sales of 31.12m. Pokemon Platninum, which is yet to be released in Europe, has already shifted 3.75m copies. 91 individual Wii titles have now sold over a million units.
