A new Toejam & Earl is in development

Cult Mega Drive franchise ToeJam & Earl is making a comeback.

Canadian developer HumaNature Studios, of Doki-Doki fame, has revealed that it working on a revival for the classic Mega Drive franchise, posting some sketches from the in-development title with more news promised in the coming weeks.

The series first appeared way back in 1991. A sequel, called ToeJam & Earl: Panic on Funkotron arrived in 1994 and a third game, ToeJam & Earl III: Mission to Earth, released as an Xbox exclusive in 2003.

Some of the original games have seen re-releases on platforms such as PC, Wii, PS3 and Xbox 360, but this is the first time a new entry has been touted.
