The Victorian Premiere has announced via Screenplay that the Australian Centre for the Moving Image will be hosting a huge Games Masters exhibition next year.
The exhibit will focus on the competitive arcade era of gaming, featuring classics including Hang On, Asteroids, Space Invaders and Sonic the Hedgehog, and will pay tribute to the venerable designers who spawned them.
The exhibit will be broken up into Games Masters, Independents and Arcade Classics, and will feature over 40 designers as well as play host to international guest Peter Molyneux, with potentially more to be announced.
Australian developer Firemint will be amongst those independents honoured, with CEO Rob Murray amongst those honoured alongside the likes of Jenova Chen (responsible for fl0w and Flower), and Matsaya Matsuura (PaRappa the Rapper).
Victorian Premiere Ted Baillieu said: "The exhibition will not only showcase games across four decades, but also the talented designers and developers and the painstaking design processes behind them. Games are for many people the most engaging and interactive art form. Games are certainly opening up new experiences."
The Games Masters Exhibition will run from 28th June to 28th October 2012 at ACMI in Melbourne.
