Microsoft creative director Adam Orth, made infamous for his recent outburst on Twitter regarding always-connected consoles, has left the company.
Polygon reports two sources have confirmed the departure, with Microsoft adding that it does not comment on private personnel matters.”
Orth ignited a bit of a firestorm last week when he took to Twitter to voice his issue with the drama surrounding always-on hardware – seemingly referring to the next Xbox itself, if one wanted to connect the dots that way.
Sorry, I don’t get the drama around an always on” console,” he said. Every device now is always on”. That’s the world we live in. #Dealwithit.”
Orth later apologized and Microsoft, for its part, distanced itself from his comments.
"We apologize for the inappropriate comments made by an employee on Twitter yesterday," read a statement from the firm. This person is not a spokesperson for Microsoft, and his personal views do not reflect the customer centric approach we take to our products or how we would communicate directly with our loyal consumers."
The exact nature of Orth’s departure from Microsoft remains unclear.
