Alan Wake finally heads to PC

Psychological action thriller Alan Wake will be released on PC in early 2012 – a year and a half after its Xbox 360 release.

The game, which was published by Microsoft on Xbox 360 in May 2010, will be available as a downloadable PC title on Steam. Developer Remedy has confirmed both pieces of DLC will be available to download: The Signal and The Writer.

When asked why Alan Wake is arriving on PC now, Remedy’s executive VP Aki Järvilehto told Rock, Paper, Shotgun: “I think it’s more related to the fact that there are many digital channels we can do use this on now. It wasn’t previously possible. Now that we have the possibility, we just had to go for it.

“We’re very excited about Steam as well, it’s a good channel. It’s great to get the game out there, finally.”

Alan Wake was in production for more than five years.

Microsoft is publishing a separate downloadable title called Alan Wake’s American Nightmare on Xbox Live in Q1 2012. Remedy has said this is not a sequel to Alan Wake.
