Future is fast-tracking its plans to move its print operations to the UK.
All US print brands, including consumer marketing, production and – significantly – editorial leadership will be centralised in the UK office (there will be some localised contribution from the US).
The US arm will now focus solely on the digital business. The firm says it will reduce the headcount at Future US by a third.
These plans were announced in July 2011, however the company says it is now accelerating the plan.
No brands will be closed as a result of this change.
It follows a profit warning from Future earlier this month and the news that CEO Mark Wood will step down from his role.
"We are absolutely focused on driving a significant reduction in the cost base of the business to deliver sustained margin improvement,” said incoming CEO Zillah Byng-Maddick
“With this activity we have moved decisively to realign resources and build efficiencies while taking a major step towards being a 100% digital business in the US. This is just one example of our determination to right-size Future for long-term success."
Future CEO Mark Wood added: "These changes enable Future's US business to focus squarely on profitable operation of our core US digital brands, which have increased traffic by 40% in the past year and draw over 22 million unique user visits a month."
