Anita Sarkeesian skin is coming to TowerFall

The next set of character skins for indie combat game TowerFall will include a homage to Feminist Frequency creator Anita Sarkeesian.

If you keep up on gaming news she may seem familiar – her appearance is loosely based on feminist games critic Anita Sarkeesian,” the studio said of the character. "Anita’s work has been an inspiration to the TowerFall team. Her ‘Tropes vs Women in Games’ video series gave us a valuable new lens through which to assess our character designs.

TowerFall is about bringing people together, so it’s vitally important that the cast of playable characters makes everyone feel invited to join in. Simply put, this wouldn’t have occurred to me if not for Anita, and feedback from players has reinforced how important it really is. We’re very excited to immortalize Anita in a small way.”

Sarkeesian will be one of ten character skins included with the upcoming Dark World expansion.

TowerFall launched as an Ouya exclusive but eventually made the jump to PC, although creator matt Thompson denied that low sales were the cause – despite the fact TowerFall’s 7,000 sales made it the system’s best-selling game.
