Another PC game skips physical release in the UK

Another one of this year’s big PC games releases will not be available physically, it has emerged.

ShopTo has revealed that the standard edition of Ubisoft’s upcoming shooter Rainbox Six Siege will not be released on disc in the UK. The Collector’s Edition, which comes complete with a guide book, is still scheduled for a physical release.

Warner Bros last month confirmed that June release Batman: Arkham Knight will not be released physically on PC in the UK – news that was initially broken by ShopTo, incidentally.

With the digital market being so much more advanced on PC than it is on console it’s no surprise that publishers are increasingly seeing little value in releasing their PC titles physically.

Saying that, the PC release of Grand Theft Auto V did well in the UK last week – although factoring in the digital sales, as revealed by MCV, would have seen Rockstar’s title claim this week’s UK No.1.

Rainbow Six Siege is due out some time in 2015.
