Apple Pay launches in the UK

Apple’s contactless payment service has finally come to the UK today (July 14th), nine months after its launch in America.

Apple Pay will support over 250,000 stores and companies in the UK, including JD Sports, Topshop, Nando’s, Wagamamas, Waitrose and Lidl.

At launch participating banks include Natwest, Nationwide, American Express and Santander, with support for HSBC, Halifax and First Direct ‘coming soon’.

In the UK, purchases through Apple Pay have a 20 cap, but this is rumoured to rise to 30 within the year.
