Apple to unveil iTablet on Jan 26th?

Apple is planning a "big" media event in late January, according to Fox News– at which the firm will finally unveil its long-rumoured iPhone-like tablet device.

Its sources back up previous claims by the Financial Times of a 26th January event at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts in San Francisco.

What’s more, Fox News claims that the event will definitely "focus on the mobility space", which it takes as a clear indication of the imminent unveiling of Apple’s tablet device – which other recent reports suggest will be called iSlate.

Late last month news broke that a small group of developers have been asked to produce upscaled versions of their iPhone apps for the launch.

"They’ve told select developers that as long as they build their apps to support full screen resolution – rather than a fixed 320×480 – their apps should run just fine," one source is quoted as saying.

More rumours? You got ’em! The New York Times quotes an unnamed senior Apple employee as saying "let’s just say Steve is extremely happy with the new tablet", while a recently departed staffer says "You will be very surprised how you interact with the new tablet".

Other reports have pegged the name of the new device as iSlate or iGuide.
