Coca-Cola has been knocked off the top of Interbrand’s Best Global Brands Report for the first time.
ME reports that the fizzy drinks specialist has topped the rankings ever since they were first created in 2000, but has this year been pipped to first place by Apple as the world’s most valuable brand.
Microsoft ranks highest of the traditional games firms, holding steady in fifth place. Sony manages 46th, having dropped from 40th last year while Nintendo slides from 56th to 67th.
The total value of this year’s 100 brands is $1.5 trillion, up 8.4 per cent from 2012. The Apple brand is valued at $98.3bn compared to Coke’s $79.2bn.
Other entries of note include Samsung in eighth, Intel in ninth, Disney in 14th, Amazon in 19th and eBay in 28th.
