After eight months at the helm, Atari’s CEO and president James Caparro has quit the company.
Caparro is to join music distribution company Entertainment Distribution, with Atari chairman and chief creative officer Bruno Bonnell stepping back into the vacant CEO position while the company searches for a replacement.
Caparro replaced Denis Guyennot as president and CEO of Atari in November 2004.
Bonnell commented: “Atari has assembled a senior management team that is moving forward to execute its strategic objectives.
"The team – from product development to marketing and sales to finance – possesses enormous energy and experience to lead us as we evolve into a more dominant force in the entertainment industry.”
“We were quite surprised by the resignation and sincerely believe that the rest of Atari’s management was also surprised,” offered Michael Pachter of analyst Wedbush Morgan.
