Atari Inc. appoints new CEO

North American publisher Atari Inc has appointed Jim Wilson as its new CEO.

Wilson joins from Sony BMG’s home entertainment business, Sony Wonder. He has previously held posts as president of Universal Interactive and as EVP/general manager of Worldwide Studios for Vivendi Universal Games.

Wilson replaces Curtis G. Solsvig III, who became CEO of Atari Inc in October last year.

Wilson’s hiring is the latest of addition to the Atari/Infogrames stable. Former Electronic Arts exec David Gardner joined Infogrames as CEO in January. This was followed in February by former Sony global studios boss Phil Harrison teaming up with him as president.

Infogrames owns Atari in Europe, and is a majority shareholder of the US operation.

"With David Gardner and Phil Harrison leading IESA, Mr. Wilson, as CEO of Atari, Inc., will be an integral partner in shaping the future of Atari worldwide," said Atari in a statement.
