AUSTRALIA: MadWorld granted release

MadWorld, Platinum Games’ ultra stylised and ultra-violent title heading to the Wii later this year, has surprisingly survived its submission with the famously strict Australian OFLC and has been granted a release in the territory.

Granting it an MA 15+ rating, the strictest available for video games in the country, the Aussie board stated that the game contained strong bloody violence” and strong coarse language”.

Recent titles suffering at the hands of the OFLC include Warner’s F.E.A.R. 2, whilst Konami’s Silent Hill: Homecoming, which will be published by Atari down under, saw some of its content altered to gain release.

Last week the BBFC passed MadWorld for release in the UK, granting it an 18 certificate in the process.
