Bad timing led to Enslaved sales struggle

Enslavd: Odyssey to the West should never have been released during the busy pre-Christmas season.

That’s according to Namco Bandai’s marketing VP Charlson Choi, who told Siliconera that poor timing was to blame for the game’s disappointing sales of less than 500,000 units.

“It launched in the midst of a busy holiday season,” he said. “Last year, there were like over 4000 games for consoles. We didn’t do a good job of finding the right time for it because when you look at the quality of the game, it speaks for itself.

“I think it’s a matter of getting into the market at the right time, which is something you will see us do much better.”

Namco’s UK marketing director Lee Kirton recently told MCV that the publisher is still hopeful of producing a sequel.
