The next instalment in DICE’s popular multiplayer war series Battlefield 1943 will be released on Xbox 360 and PS3 next week, publisher EA has confirmed.
Xbox 360 owners will get a one-day head start of their PlayStation rivals when the game arrives on Xbox Live on July 8th, priced at 1200 Microsoft Points (around £10). The PS3 version will hit PSN a day later for £9.99.
“Battlefield 1943 is going to change consumer expectations of what a downloadable game can be,” the game’s producer Gordon Van Dyke.
“By offering Frostbite’s next generation destruction technology with a full Vehicle Warfare FPS multiplayer experience at a mere 560MB, Battlefield 1943 sets a new standard.
“Our goal is to blow people away with a fully accessible, retail-caliber game for veteran Battlefield fans and shooter fans alike to enjoy for only £9.99.” Last week saw the release of the series’ first browser-based free-to-play instalment, Battlefield Heroes.
