Battlefield 4 revealed with 17 minute single-player gameplay trailer

Battlefield 4 was unveiled today, as promised by EA, via an impressive 17-minute trailer showcasing the game’s single-player campaign.

Powered by DICE’s next-generation Frostbite 3 engine, the game looks stunning as you would expect and it’s interesting that EA chose to reveal the game via the campaign, when the multiplayer is clearly the fracnhise’s USP.

As artists and craftspeople, we are focused on creating a dynamic, open design that brings people together with amazing, surprising unscripted moments that they’ll talk about for days. That’s the beauty of Battlefield,” said EA Games Label executive vice president Patrick Soderlund.

The trailer takes place in Baku, Azerbaijan, a mix of atmospheric indoor areas, vast open expanses and lots of explosive action showing off Frostbite’s destruction prowess.

This time around, DICE has attempted to include multiplayer design elements into the campaign, giving the players the ability to direct squadmates, mark enemies, control a variety of vehicles, and use environmental destruction as combat strategy.

To be this early in development, and to already be so polished is a huge achievement for the DICE team and reflection of their passion and commitment to driving the franchise forward. Today’s demo was just the beginning – we have so much more in store,” Soderlund added.

As we earlier reported, Battlefield 4 is scheduled for release in ‘Fall 2013′, which should be October-November. While the game is also expected on next-gen consoles, EA has so far only confirmed PC, PS3 and Xbox 360 versions.
