Bioshock film loses director

Negotiations for the movie adaptation of BioShock have seen very little forward movement since its reveal back in 2008. Now the film appears to have taken another step back with the loss of its second director in four years.

Juan Carlos Fresnadillo, who signed on to direct after Gore Verbinski walked, has moved on to other work.

"To be honest, by now, I’m completely out of that, and developing other stuff," Fresnadillo stated to The Playlist. "Right now it’s on hold. The studio and the video game company, they have to reach some kind of agreement about the budget and the rating."

Pre-production on the film has been in a holding pattern since 2009.

The project’s budget and potential rating negotiationsare still ongoing, but it appears we’re nowhere near seeing the crossover at the box office.
