Brendan McNamara's Next Game Rights Picked Up by KMM Studios

The rights to the next game from Team Bondi founder Brendan McNamara, entitled Whore of the Orient, have been picked up by KMM Studios.

In an interview with the Australian Financial Review recently, George Miller, one of the founders of KMM, confirmed that development of the Fury Road game (tied in to the upcoming Mad Max film of the same name) has had development duties shipped from Sweden to Australia after Miller 'saw what Team Bondi could do'.

Miller told the AFR: "What’s fascinating ... is that Team Bondi immediately went to work on Happy Feet Two. People can move from a game to a movie and be completely at home, because it’s the same skills, process – the same game."

He referred to the acquisition of the staff from Team Bondi after its controversial dissolution as KMM having "taken the risk and absorbed not only the Krome team but Team Bondi’s last standing warriors." He noted of the Australian games industry that "[t]here’s never enough critical mass in this country to keep going", although with new proposed measures being taken by Screen Australia, that could all be about to change.

McNamara's new game has not been detailed as yet, nor has it been confirmed that the title is being worked on concurrent with Fury Road or if the acquisision of the rights was a preemptive measure by KMM.

The only thing known about the title as yet comes from McNamara's statement that would be "one of the great untold stories of the twentieth century."
