Brennan blasts back

The new label has come out of a tie-up between Mastertronic and Euro value publisher Disky (As reported in MCV 21/4). Working alongside Brennan will be the industry veteran Graeme Boxall, who has opted to take up a new role as Blast’s senior vice president for product development.

Thanks to wide-ranging licensing deals with the likes of Warner Bros, Paramount, Universal, 20th Century Fox, Jetix, Granada and Cartoon Network, titles will include Wacky Races, The Flintstones, Captain Scarlet, Thunderbirds, Casper The Friendly Ghost and Beverley Hills Cop.

The range will launch in July with 16 releases planned this year. A push across Europe will come via Disky’s network and a further 20 titles will follow next year.

Brennan was the brains behind Virgin’s pioneering White Label budget move in the 1990s. He is confident that Blast can quickly grab significant share in Europe.

“This is a great opportunity to grow a business that can be a leader in its field,” he said. “We’re convinced we have found a unique niche in the market and can set a new benchmark in the PS2 sector as Mastertronic has with PC.”
